You can't just employ people and make them pay for their own expenses, essentially putting them into some sort of weird indentured servitude like it's still the industrial era. You especially can't try to trap them in the situation just because you thought they were illegal immigrants. Of course, according this post to Reddit's r/EntitledPeople by u/Vict0r117, that's exactly what happened to them and their spouse after they were hired by a wealthy woman to take care of her elderly parents.
None of this makes any sense — who actually thinks they can get employees to pay out of pocket to upkeep an entire house? Seriously, this is one of the most messed up things you'll read — it's awesome that this woman was forced to pay it all back in the end.
